You do not have to be in crisis

Is therapy right for you?

You do not need a diagnosis or a breaking point to deserve support. People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons: a worry that will not quiet down, a relationship that feels stuck, a loss, a change, or a sense that something is off that they cannot quite name. Wherever you are is a reasonable place to start.

Therapy is not about being broken. It is a practiced, human relationship built to help you understand yourself and move toward the life you want.

  • You feel anxious, low, or overwhelmed more often than you would like.
  • The same patterns keep showing up in your relationships or your work.
  • You are carrying a loss, a change, or an old hurt that still weighs on you.
  • You are basically fine, and you simply want a thoughtful place to think.

How we work

Evidence based, in plain language

Our therapists are trained in approaches with real support behind them. You do not need to know the acronyms. What matters is that your therapist chooses methods that fit you, and explains them along the way.

Read about our approach
  • CBT

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

A practical, present focused approach that looks at how thoughts, feelings, and actions shape one another, and gives you tools to shift the ones that keep you stuck.

  • EMDR

    Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

A structured, well researched therapy for trauma that helps the brain process difficult memories so they lose their sharp edge and stop intruding on the present.

  • ACT

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

A mindfulness based approach that helps you make room for hard feelings rather than fighting them, and take steady steps toward what genuinely matters to you.

  • EFT

    Emotionally Focused Therapy

An approach for couples, and for individuals, that works with the emotions and attachment needs underneath conflict to rebuild a more secure connection.

  • Systems

    Family Systems Therapy

A way of understanding a person within their relationships, looking at the patterns a family or couple falls into rather than searching for a single cause.

  • Depth

    Psychodynamic Therapy

A reflective approach that explores how earlier experiences and unspoken patterns shape the present, so lasting change comes from genuine understanding.

Getting started

What the first steps look like

  1. 1

    Reach out

Send a short request or give us a call. Tell us a little about what is going on and whether anyone stands out to you. There is no pressure to commit.

  2. 2

    A brief consultation

You will have a short conversation, often a phone call, so you can ask questions and we can help match you with a therapist who fits what you need.

  3. 3

    Your first session

The first full session is about getting to know you, at your pace. Nothing is rushed. If the fit is not right, we will happily help you find a better one.

In person and telehealth

Meet at our Richmond office or by secure video anywhere in Virginia. Many clients mix the two as life allows.

Fees, sliding scale, and insurance

We share our fees openly and keep a limited number of reduced fee sliding scale spots. We accept several insurance plans and can provide a superbill for out of network reimbursement.

Sessions that fit your week

Standard sessions run about fifty minutes, typically weekly to start. Evening times are available for people who work during the day.

Ready when you are.

There is no rush and no wrong way to begin. Reach out and we will take the first step together.
